Christian Hofer, a Swiss national, joined the GEF as Senior Communications Officer in 2008 and since then has been working on a whole range of communications challenges in the global environmental field with an increasingly strong focus on visuals and multimedia. From 2005 to 2008, Christian worked in corporate and development communications for the World Bank. He focused on outreach to countries in the Middle East and Francophone Africa, using strategic communications tools in World Bank projects to contribute to increased effectiveness and transparency. Before coming to Washington, DC, Christian was in charge of the communications unit in the Economic Development Cooperation in the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in Bern. He holds a Masters in Advanced Studies in International Development from the Swiss Federal School of Technology in Zurich, a Master in Modern History and a BA in Political Science and Sociology, both from the University of Bern, Switzerland.
